Business Leaders - It's Time to Wake Up!

What is lost in most business leaders is that their employees are human beings.

And, they have feelings, emotions, attitudes, beliefs, and biases.

It would be easy to "manage" robots.

Humans on the other hand…

So, what’s my point?

My point is that every employee will not come to work every day and be 100% productive 100% of the time.

Yes, laziness could be a factor. As could selfishness, bad work ethic, etc.

But it could also result from an issue with a partner or family member or work colleague. It could be due to workplace bullying. Or personal financial problems. Or a child’s recent school issues. Or even memories of things that happened in their childhood.

We are emotional beings. Not always 100% rational.

Any number of factors, over time, can come together in a perfect storm resulting in employee distraction, stress, anxiety, depression, and mental absenteeism.

Good leaders, especially now as we come out of the worst of the pandemic, need to be attuned to all these issues because, left unchecked, corporate and individual productivity can take a major hit.

In 2022 company leaders must think about the infrastructure and processes needed to look after the mental well-being of their employees.

Legal requirements aside, a well-thought-out, easy-to-implement, easy-to-understand, and affordable employee mental health plan will positively impact company financial results, employee productivity, job applicant attraction, employee morale, employee resignations, and much more.
